I'm a seasoned consumer and, as I have gotten a bit older, I find I need less to feel more. This means I have to choose the flowers I consume wisely so I get the most out of every experience. This also means I’m finding great enjoyment from some of the less potent flowers, many of which are biased toward the CBD side of the spectrum.
I am also very lucky to have the opportunity to visit Amsterdam multiple times each year for business. I typically add a day or two to each trip so I can get over the jet lag, enjoy the beautiful city and taste some of the amazing strains that the Dutch have bred over the years. I brought home a few of the Barney’s Farm CBD Blue Shark seeds to see if I could bring a piece of the home and share with my family and friends.
I am not a seasoned grower but I live in a climate that is perfect for growing any type of flower. I built a small garden bed on the side of my house and followed some of the simple rules available online. I germinated two seeds in paper towels and transferred them to the bed to nurture for the next five months. Both seeds produced amazing results.
The yield was generous by my standards with more flower than I originally knew what to do with… but after curing and sampling the final results, I realized there would be no problem with excess buds. These flowers are about as sticky as one can possibly handle without needing a second person to peel them off your fingers with a tool of sorts. The scent is extremely spicy and will fill the room as soon as you open the storage jar. The flavors vary depending on the method of consumption, with vaping producing a strong spice with a bit of fruitiness while smoking a classic bowl will amplify the spice (which I love!).
The effects are nearly instantaneous. I suffer from some significant back injuries and I keep fairly active so I don’t fall into a locked state and after just one puff, the edge is gone and my flexibility increases significantly. A friend of mine who is not a seasoned CBD consumer suffers from sciatica and after sharing a bowl, we proceeded to go surfing and he told me he hadn’t felt that pain free in a long time. The psychoactive side of the stone is extremely light – it is present but not at all one that will push you into your own private world. If anything, the pain reduction and positive affects will pull the social nature within you out to share with the world. Large smiles have been a common consequence of consuming this flower.
I have yet to cook with the kief but the sugar leave generated a jar full that I look forward to infusing into a meal of sorts in the future.
All in all, the strain is wonderful. The CBD side is strong but not overwhelming the stone. The smell is beautiful, the taste is wonderful and the results are pain reduction and increased social happiness. Try a bowl and go have some fun!
